NOTICE OF AUGUST 27, 2026 TAMPA CITY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING FOR ADOPTION
OF THE NON-AD VALOREM SPECIAL ASSESSMENT ROLL WITHIN THE WESTSHORE AREA
OF THE CITY OF TAMPA TO PAY FOR ENHANCED SERVICES
On August 27, 2026 at 10:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable, the City Council for the City of Tampa, Florida, shall conduct a public hearing in City Council Chambers, 315 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL, 33602 to consider the adoption of a non-ad valorem assessment roll for a 2026 (FY2027) non-ad valorem (special) assessment within the Westshore area of the City of Tampa, the boundaries of which are identified on the map included in this notice.
The proposed 2026 (FY2027) special assessment will be based upon an assessment rate of $0.1325 per
$1,000 of assessed value of each benefitted parcel of property subject to the assessment, which will generate approximately $892,807 in total revenue for the 2027 Fiscal Year (FY) to be used to pay for certain enhanced services and improvements in the Westshore area of the City of Tampa including transportation improvements, marketing and security services and related administrative costs. The assessment will be collected by the tax collector as part of the real property owners' ad-valorem tax bills. Failure to pay the assessment will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property, which may result in a loss of title.
All affected property owners may participate by appearing at the public hearing above either personally or virtually through communications media technology (CMT). Instructions for participation by CMT are available at www.tampa.gov/city-council/quasi. Pre-registration for participation by CMT is also required. Written objections may also be filed with the City Council within twenty (20) days of the date of this notice. Please include your name and parcel number on all correspondence and address as follows: Revenue and Finance, Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Comments to Non-Ad Valorem Assessments, 306 E. Jackson St., 8th Floor East, Tampa, FL 33602, or submit via email to WestshoreNAVComments@tampagov.net. If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the City Council with respect to any matter considered at the public hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings and may need to ensure that a verbatim record is made, including the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be made.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing a reasonable accommodation to participate in this public hearing or meeting should contact the City of Tampa's ADA Coordinator at least 48 hours prior to the proceeding. The ADA Coordinator may be contacted via phone at 813-274-3964, email at TampaADA@tampagov.net, or by submitting an ADA - Accommodations Request form available online at tampagov.net/ADARequest.
