Friday, October 16, 2020 (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM) (EDT)

Description

In partnership with the Tampa Police Department, we invite you to join us for a special presentation with guest speaker Officer Daniel McDonald, MPA, to learn more about his initiative that changed police response to homelessness.

A 28-year veteran in law enforcement and corrections, Officer McDonald led the initiative that changed police response to homelessness. In 2012, through a no-nonsense approach, he spearheaded Tampa's Police Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) that advocates problem-oriented, intelligence-led, and community-focused policing. He has assisted hundreds of clients enter into temporary, transitional, or permanent housing and has participated in community collaborations that have slashed chronic homeless rates. He has received multiple awards, commendations, and media attention for his efforts to resolve homelessness.

Mr. McDonald is an in-demand speaker on homelessness. He delivered the keynote address at the 2017 Housing and Ideas Exchange in Manchester, England, and was a featured speaker at the 2018 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference, the world’s largest gathering of law enforcement executives, drawing over 18,000 delegates from 83 countries. He has served on the board of directors for Northside Behavioral Health Center and the Housing & Education Alliance, both located in Tampa.

If you're not sure how to address homelessness in our community, you don't want to miss this event.
