With extensive experience across all three districts of the Tampa Police Department, Chief Bercaw is widely recognized for his innovative crime reduction strategies and adept management of high-profile events such as the Super Bowl, Republican National Convention, International Indian Film Academy (Bollywood), Gasparilla, and the College Football National Championship. His commitment extends beyond event security to enhancing the overall quality of life in our city through effective crime prevention initiatives.

Chief Bercaw holds a doctorate in Criminal Justice from St. Leo University, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of South Florida (USF). His outstanding contributions to the field were acknowledged in 2016 when he was inducted into the USF Department of Criminology's Wall of Fame as an Outstanding Criminology Ambassador. Additionally, he plays a vital role as a board member of the Tampa Bay Area Chiefs of Police Education and Research Foundation.
