Westshore Special Services District Public Hearing

Description

On August 22, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable, the City Council for the City of Tampa, Florida, shall conduct a public hearing in the City Council Chambers, Third Floor, City Hall, 315 East Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, Florida, to consider the adoption of a non-ad valorem assessment roll for a 2019 non-ad valorem assessment within the Westshore Business District of the City of Tampa. The special assessment will apply to those properties specifically identified by the folio number in this notice.

The proposed 2019 Special Assessment of $0.15 per $1,000 of assessed value as evidenced on the certified preliminary roll provided by Hillsborough County Property Appraiser on June 25, 2019 (see specific assessment on reverse side) will generate approximately $688,697 in total revenue for 2019 to be used to pay for transportation improvements, marketing, and security services for the Westshore Business District of the City of Tampa.

The assessment will be collected by the tax collector as part of real property owners’ ad valorem tax bill. Failure to pay the assessment will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property which may result in a loss of title. All affected property owners have the right to appear at the public hearing and the right to file written objections with the City Council within twenty (20) days of this notice.

If any person decides to appeal any decision of the City Council with respect to any matter considered at the public hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings; and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 286.26, Florida Statutes (2001), persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in this hearing should contact the City Clerk’s Office at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the date of the public hearing.
