Join us for an exciting lunch event with Van Ayres, Superintendent of Schools for Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS), the nation's seventh-largest school system. A lifelong educator, he was appointed to the role on November 2, 2023.
Van's visionary leadership has been instrumental in implementing HCPS's 5-year strategic plan, fostering community relationships, and spearheading efforts to improve the district's graduation rate by 12.2 percentage points over five years. He has established procedures to allow access to Magnet and School Choice Programs and implemented a process for families with children with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to connect with the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) department before arrival.
He has served on many community organizations and boards. He sits on the boards for the Children’s Board, Hillsborough Education Foundation, Junior Achievement Tampa Bay, MOSI, Straz Center Board of Trustees, Tampa Bay Chamber, and the American Heart Association. He is also co-chair of the MacDill Council for Educational Excellence, MacDill Air Force Base 6th Air Mobility Wing Honorary Commander, YMCA Governance Board member, and Leadership Tampa Class of 2019.
